Group is the city’s first all-professional classical musical ensemble
Mississauga can now boasts its first ever all-professional classical music ensemble.
The Canada Virtuoso Ensemble held its first performance on June 5 at Christ First United Church in Port Credit. The performance included highlights from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, Handel’s Water Music, and Geminiani’s La Follia.
The Ensemble is led by Maestro Carlos Bastidas, who is a long-time resident or Lorne Park.
“This is more than a concert—it is the launch of a new artistic home for world-class classical music in Mississauga,” said Maestro Bastidas. “We are proud to establish a fully professional ensemble in this city and to share this exciting beginning with our community.”
The featured artist at the first performance was soprano Anna Wojcik, who has won competitions around the world and performed with the Royal Conservatory Orchestra and the Toronto Sinfonietta.
