New Mississauga projects opening in 2026. As well as Miway service changes in the year ahead.
Happy New Year, Mississauga! As we head into 2026, let’s take a look at some of the new parks, infrastructure and Miway service changes coming our way.
It’s that time of year when thoughts turn toward the sun, summer and warm temperatures. For Mississauga residents already thinking about summer break, there’s lots to look forward to as new parks are scheduled to open in 2026.
JIM TOVEY CONSERVATION AREA

Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area will open to the public in May. The 26 hectare waterfront conservation area will have a network of pathways, trails, bike lanes and pedestrian bridges that will wind through a variety of natural spaces including wetlands, grasslands and forests.
Over the past 10 years crews have planted over 76,320 wetland plants and 42,200 tress and shrubs by hand. According to Credit Valley Conservation, this will help support 35 species of fish and provide food and a habitat for animals such as coyotes, white tailed deer, mink, beavers, rabbits, turtles, toads and frogs.
The entrance to the park is located on the eastern side at Marie Curtis Park and admission will be free.
ZONTA MEADOWS PARK

For families looking for a new park and playground to visit later this year, Zonta Meadows Park is scheduled to open in October. The redeveloped downtown park will include an accessible playground, spray pad, basketball courts, tennis courts, pickleball courts, fitness trail, soccer field, off-leash dog area, cherry blossom grove and tree promenade, public art area, picnic areas and community gardens.
NEW FIRE STATIONS

New city infrastructure is coming to Mississauga in 2026. Fire Stations 123 and 124 will open this year.
Fire Station 123 is located at 3050 The Collegeway at Winston Churchill in Erin Mills and is predicted to open early this year. Fire Station 124 is on Needham Lane, just off Cawthra, south of Dundas.
In 2022, the city purchased land at 2425 Cawthra Road to build the new station. It will open sometime later this year.
These new stations are part of the city’s plan to build several new fire stations in order to improve response times. The goal is to achieve a firetruck response time of four minutes or less for 75% of calls.
In late 2024, Fire Station 125 opened in Meadowvale. In 2027, the city hopes to open Fire Station 127 in Lorne Park and Fire Station 128 in Lakeview.
STORMWATER FACILITIES

The city is also building new stormwater infrastructure. The Huron Heights Stormwater Management Facility should be completed by late summer 2026. The new facility will be installed under the north baseball diamond in Huron Heights Park.
Storm sewer intakes and outlets will also be installed on Huron Heights Drive. Once the system is in place, the crews will re-grade the park, replace the baseball diamond and plant new trees. The city hopes the stormwater infrastructure will help to reduce flooding in the area and improve water quality downstream in the Cooksville Creek watershed.
MIWAY SERVICE AND FARE CHANGES

As of January 5, Miway has made service changes. Service will increase on the 109 Meadowvale Express, giving riders a 15 minute or better service from 6am to 6pm, Monday – Friday and 20 minutes or better service in the evening and on weekends.
The 35 Eglinton route will be revised to better serve Ridgeway Plaza. The bus will now travel east and west on Eglinton between Ninth and Tenth Lines, no longer running eastbound on Erin Centre Blvd.
Also up for more improved service are the 26 Burnhamthorpe and the 61 Mavis bus lines. These routes will see more frequent service from 10am to 2pm on weekdays to help ease overcrowding.
The city will also continue to build more enhanced, heated bus shelters with digital screens this year. By the end of 2027, the city hopes to have 92 of these shelters along the busiest express routes in the city.
