Meadowvale residents vote Feb 27th

Nina Tangri was an entrepreneur and small business owner before she was elected. In June 2019, Nina was appointed Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation, and Trade. In 2021, she served as the Minister of Small Business and Red Tape Reduction. In March 2023, she was the Associate Minister of Housing. She currently is the Associate Minister of Small Business.

Jill Promoli, Peel District School Board Trustee for Mississauga Wards 6 and 11, is running again for the Liberals. She is also a photographer and self-described public health advocate.

Shoaib Khawar was only nominated as the NDP’s candidate in Mississauga- Streetsville in early February and, so far, has little online public profile. The NDP website says he has “a strong background in community activism and social justice.”

The other two candidates registered to run in the riding are Christopher Hill of the Green Party of Ontario and Darryl Brothers with the New Blue Party.

According to Elections Canada, there are 85,853 registered voters in Mississauga- Streetsville, with an average age of 40 and annual income of $57,000. federal election is around 59%. During last year’s mayoral by-election, however, only 25% of Mississauga voters cast a ballot.

Early voting is available at 2470 Milltower Court, Monday to Saturday from 10am to 8pm and on Sundays from 12pm until 5pm. Early voting ends on February 26th at 6pm. To vote by mail, voters should visit the Elections Ontario website and follow the instructions. Ballots must be received by 6pm on February 27th.
