Destination Scarborough creates restaurant hot spot map, online show

A new campaign aims to get both Toronto locals and tourists more excited about touring Scarborough restaurants and cultural spots.

Destination Scarborough — an initiative put together by the groups Eat More Scarborough and Scarborough Arts — has produced a promotional map that features 17 locations. They include restaurants, a brewery, ice cream shop and even pottery studio.

“This isn’t just any map; it’s your insider’s guide to the top culinary and cultural hotspots that define Scarborough’s vibrant culture,” the map explains. “From hidden gems to local legends, we’re showcasing why Scarborough is North America’s next big food and arts destination.”

The project also features a new web show starring local food enthusiast Howard Tam. The first episode, already viewed thousands of times, has Tam visiting a number of locations on the map. Tam describes Scarborough as “the best food suburb in the world.”
