The City of Toronto has released its calendar for community environment days happening throughout town. A number of them are coming up in the months ahead across Scarborough.
The purpose of these environment days is to provide residents with an accessible and free way to get rid of certain household products including hazardous waste. Household items like small electronics and appliances can be dropped off for donation and reuse. Household waste can be taken in for proposal disposal — such as partially used paint cans and other household chemicals.
The City also provides bagged compost that residents can collect. “Kitchen catchers” — the plastic bins that hold green bin waste — will be sold for $7. Only cash is accepted.
These environmental days have now been held by a number of years and are hosted by the local city councillor in each of their wards.
The Scarborough Centre event happened in late April. Each event takes places from 10am-2pm. Here are the other upcoming ones for Scarborough:
