Mississauga Chargers hockey team announce home opener, new players

The Mississauga Chargers have announced their home opener game for Wednesday, September 10.

The Ontario Junior Hockey League team will face off against the Toronto Patriots at their regular home arena, Port Credit Memorial Arena.

The team also took to social media to announce the new players joining for the upcoming season.

“The league helps send players to the NCAA, CIS, and OHL, and onto play pro hockey in the NHL and leagues all across North American and Europe,” explains the OJHL website. “The OJHL has more current NHL Players (38) than any other league in the [Canadian Junior Hockey League].”

In April, the league announced Chargers player Mason Kim had been named OJHL’s Rookie of the Year for 2024-2025.

Local fans will have their fingers crossed for a stronger showing this year, as the Chargers haven’t qualified for the playoffs in recent years.

Their first game of the season is earlier, on Sept. 5, as an away game against the Collingwood Blues. Preseason games beginning later in August, as the Chargers participate in the Canuck Classic in Niagara Falls.
