Traffic calming speed humps coming to more Scarborough streets

Traffic calming speed humps coming to more Scarborough streets. Scarborough community council approved the addition of speed humps to a number of Scarborough streets at their recent October meeting.

The streets that will soon include traffic calming speed humps feature are: Stamford Square North, Stamford Square South, North Woodrow Boulevard, Fenwood Heights, Kingsdown Drive, Sherwood Avenue, Commons Drive, Pebblewood Avenue and Poplar Road.

Speed humps are different than speed bumps. They are longer and shorter than speed bumps, causing a less abrupt bump for vehicles driving over them.

The implementation of traffic calming measures typically involves residents petitioning their city councillor on the matter, who in turn sends out solicits feedback to the affected streets to gauge support and opposition. The matter is then voted on at community council.
