Summer Bucket List – Simple things can make us happy on Sunny Days

The summer is finally here and the sun is now starting to shine. Canadians are coming out of hibernation to meet their friends and family again. Now let’s make a summer bucket list plan.

Here are some summer tips to boost your physical, mental, nutritional, and social health:

Make yourself happy in the sun and don’t forget your sunscreen

Simply being in the great outdoors offers significant health benefits including: Improved mental health, better concentration and higher Vitamin D levels

Adopt a daily stretching routine and go for daily walks

Regular stretching improves your balance and flexibility while walking only 150 minutes a week has proven to boost our memories. Also you will socialize with your friends and neighbours along your path.

Fire up healthy grilling recipes and put down your phone

Summer BBQs are a favourite activity. However, fatty meats and sugary sauces can have negative health consequences. This year, enjoy summer cookouts with a wellness twist when you opt for healthy grilling recipes.

A digital detox while barbecuing also frees up time to spend with your friends and family and on your favourite non-screen activities. So put down your phone, grab a beer and enjoy your grilling time with friends.

Try a new sport or activity

Summer is the perfect season to try a new sport or activity, which can boost personal wellness via physical, mental, and social benefits.

Watch the sunrise and sunset

Watching sunrises and sunsets are a must to increase your appreciation for your environment and increase motivation to learn about the planet.

Take a summer class and read a book

Learn and breath! Learning and reading can also reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and improve the quality of your sleep. There’s even a positive correlation between learning, reading and longevity.

Start a garden

Gardening is a wonderful for physical exercises, stimulating the brain, and increasing cytokine levels and improves your mood. Remember to grow pesticide free vegetables.

Enjoy your summer and learn about your community as you take your summer holiday. Summer offers you the chance to meet your neighbours and learn about different people as you travel across the countryside on these long warm days.
