The paid jobs involve working the full day at an election polling station.
The City of Mississauga is looking to hire people for a single day — election day. The municipality is seeking applicants to be election workers at polling stations throughout the city on October 26.
If you’ve ever wondered about the people who run the polling stations and assist you with your ballots, they are election workers who are only engaged by the city for the one day of work.
Pay ranges from $279 to $390 and most positions include attending a training session in addition to the day of work. It’s a long day though. Workers start at 7:30am and the shift will end at 9pm or later, depending on how late the vote count goes.
Positions include Operator, Information Officer and Deputy Returning Officer.
“Election workers are essential to delivering a fair and accessible Municipal Election,” says Diana Rusnov, City Clerk and Director for Legislative Services. “Their work supports voters and helps ensure people can participate with confidence and trust in the process. We appreciate the commitment of those who step forward to serve their community.”
