Watermain construction commences on multiple streets

Temporary road closures, single lane traffic expected throughout the project.

Peel Region’s public works department is set to start new watermain construction in the community this summer.

The department will soon be replacing multiple watermains along Copenhagen Road, Quetta Mews, Gafney Drive and Merrydew Court. In addition to this they are planning to replace the aging sanitary sewer from Catalpa Rd to Goreway

Drive. The project is needed, they City says, to maintain and improve existing water and wastewater services.

Construction is scheduled to start in early June 2025 and is expected to be completed by September 2026. These timelines are estimates, with the City explaining that weather or other unexpected events could impact these timelines.

The contract for the work has been given to a GTA company called Vic’s Group, which has previously worked on other construction projects under contract to Peel Region. The contractor will be working normal hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. except for at Derry Road west at intersections with Montevideo Road and Shelter Bay, where construction will occur between 9 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. from Monday to Friday.

Temporary road closures and single lane traffic is expected to happen throughout the project. There will be reduced on-street parking during the construction period.

Residents can sign up for e-notices through a form provided at the Peel Region official website.
