Community mourns passing of George Brant

Brant was long-time Streetsville lawyer and champion of local culture

George F. Brant, a well-known Streetville community member, passed away at the end of July at the age of 70 after a battle with cancer.

Brant practiced law for 41 years and worked out of the iconic Robinson Bray House building in Streetsville.

The Mississauga Symphony Orchestra released a statement paying tribute to Brant, who they described as a “dear friend and long-time champion.” The statement went on to say that “George believed deeply in the power of music and the importance of a vibrant cultural community.”

An obituary notes that “George was always inquisitive, curious, and had an endless passion for acquiring knowledge with interests in history, languages, music, politics, religion, and world events.”

Brant was, the obituary states, “a devoted husband to Christine for 37 years” and “a proud father to Miranda”.
