City golf courses saw major revenue gains last year

City golf courses saw major revenue gains last year. BraeBen and Lakeview courses brought in almost $1 million more.

The two golf courses owned by the City of Mississauga brought in an extra $1 million into city coffers last year due to more usage.

The 2026 draft budget that was released in January reveals a “net revenue increase of $990,000 due to increased demand for golf tee times at BraeBen and Lakeview Golf Courses and the corresponding operating and labour cost increases”.

BraeBen features two courses, one 18-hole Championship course and one 9-hole par 3 course and features a driving range. Lakeview is a single 18-hole course.

The booking rules for the municipal courses give priority booking times to Mississauga residents as well as a 5% discount on green fees.

The surge in popularity for the courses stands in contrast to the experience of other golf courses at other municipalities. For example, the City of Toronto regularly debates the possibility of closing their municipal courses in part due to declining revenue and managing expenses.
