High speed rail open house session at Scarborough Civic Centre

High speed rail open house session at Scarborough Civic Centre. Line will travel from Toronto to Montreal in three hours.

Scarborough residents who want to know more about the planned Alto High Speed Rail Line can meet with company representatives on Feb. 10 at the Scarborough Civic Centre for an open house session.

The new rail line is proposed as a way to travel between Toronto and Montreal in just three hours — and to get to Ottawa from Toronto in two hours. That’s less than half the time of the current VIA Rail system.

“Alto open house information events feature themed kiosks that participants can explore at their own pace,” explains Alto. “Visitors are free to move between kiosks, connect with project experts, ask questions, and learn about all aspects of the project.”

The Alto team will run two info session at the Civic Centre, one from 11am to 3pm and the other from 5pm to 9pm.

While no formal map for the rail line has yet to be produced, it has been announced that the line would not run alongside the traditional lines that follow the 401 and instead run north, cutting through the Peterborough area before making its turn north to Ottawa.

It is unclear what additional information will be disclosed at the info sessions, as Alto says there is no timeline yet for the project.
